HA and peptides: reading an open-label study

A plain-English study note · 2022

What was tested

Participants used an HA-and-peptide serum twice daily, with assessments at two, four and eight weeks. A cleanser and morning SPF 30+ were also supplied. Everyone knew they were using the study product.

What changed

Hydration measurements and investigator ratings improved from baseline. A small biopsy subgroup also showed changes in markers associated with HA.

How strong is the evidence?

This was open-label, without a vehicle-control comparison described in the abstract. Biopsy findings in a few participants cannot establish a benefit for every user or isolate the peptide’s contribution. Authors disclosed consulting and employment ties to ALASTIN and Galderma. The paper gives brand-associated formula evidence relevant to HA IMMERSE, rather than proof it beats other serums. Current formulation equivalence was not independently verified.
