What niacinamide adds to the conversation

A plain-English study note · 2005

What was tested

Fifty white women with signs of sun-related facial ageing used 5% niacinamide on one side of the face and its base formula on the other. Treatment was twice daily for 12 weeks, with randomised sides and double blinding.

What changed

Researchers reported improvements in fine lines, pigmentation, redness, yellowing and elasticity compared with the control side.

Where this applies

PCA SKIN lists niacinamide, but does not disclose its percentage on the checked page. This is a reason to examine the whole formula, not proof that its serum reproduces the trial. The participants represented a limited demographic, and researchers were affiliated with Procter & Gamble. This study does not compare luxury HA serums.

Ingredient overlap is context, not proof of the same concentration, formulation or outcome.
